Interesting week/ week hrs
Week hrs: 42.5 hrs
Total hrs: 318.5hrs
This week was very interesting. I got to do a lot of metal fab work. I had a new radiator from an aftermarket company that would not fit no matter what I did. I had to cut rivets, flanges, and some other things to make it work, but it turned out really nice and no leaks which is very good. I also got the opportunity to talk with a guy that builds $250,000 and over baja racers. He is leting me tag along with him to their eastern Washington testing grounds and have a backstage pass to how they build them and maybe drive one.

So this week I learned some "old school" ways on how to diagnose problems before scan tools and labtops were used in every shop. The old school ways need to be passed on because there is value In all of it.

During this week I had a good lesson in patience I had to try and diagnose an problem that didn't happen when I tested for it. The vehicle was a 2000 and something Ford f350 with a transmission that would heat up at random but no codes? Fun right.... phantom problem.

This week was a very good week. I got to work on a 69 gmc and a 78 gmc both flatbeds. I got to see how things were done then and how they are different now. This also brought a new concept to my learning because things were so simple back then.

While installing kingpins I figured out that learning by yourself can make mistakes happen. I was trying to install races in the hub and damaged the new race because the hub is aluminum and needs to be heated before install. Lesson learned

I had to revisit the electrical system check test this week. I had a bad alternator in my 2003 Ford f150. I tested the starter, alternator, and battery. The findings were 11.4 volts with the vehicle running at the alternator...not good, after I charged the battery the battery passed a load test. I am glad that I learned how to test all those items in three easy tests.

I Am glad to be getting back into the groove of class. I did brush up on electrical systems and go through the basic components of a circuit. It is interesting though because now I view things more clearly than before and can figure out complex systems now, that I wouldn't have attempted earlier in my journey.

Week hrs
43 hrs this week. I had a good reminder of how important safety is this week I had a 6 ton floor jack break the pin that holds the jack in place. Lucky I had a air jack in the middle of the axle so the trailer didn't fall but it could have been really bad and someone could have gotten hurt. I goes to show that even when you do things right there could be equipment failure so I always try to think about the "what ifs" and prepare for them
